28 SA STYLE SPRING 2O17 Vesna Cavic is a personal stylist, speaker and author of Dear Confidence – Unleashing Your Personal Style and Brand and she is particularly passionate about the confidence that comes with the right clothes. “You should have clothing that makes you happy, that’s versatile and that is current,” says Vesna. “Start the day by choosing an outfit that serves you, your body shape and your lifestyle – that’s just so important to helping you experience inspiration and peace throughout your day.” Lauren Nelson of Lauren.Jade is a business consultant working specifically with female business owners in South Australia and she adds that simply recognising and understanding limiting self-beliefs can help women succeed. “ The events in our life can shape what we perceive ourselves to be. We have triggers that stop us from believing we can succeed, or that we deserve to. Changing our responses to those triggers helps us take control of our lives, and gives us back the power. We can start to replace the negative references we’ve acquired during our lives with positive ones that help us achieve more and become confident, successful individuals.” It’s this combination of confidence and belief that leads to opportunities for these women. To date Dress for Success Adelaide have conducted over 800 appointments and assisted 586 clients, 265 of which are now in full-time employment. “Most of the women who visit Dress for Success are disadvantaged in some way. They’re single mums, women with serious illness, women who are caring for others, homeless, or escaping violent relationships.” Joan and Danielle go above and beyond to make their service an uplifting one, offering one-on-one appointments with every session tailored to individual needs. “ We want to create a premium experience that shows women who come through these doors they are valued and have value. We have a chauffeur driven vehicle that picks them up and drops them off again, making us accessible and eliminating as many barriers as possible,” says Joan. “ This service does actually work and it does promote change. Sometimes it’s little steps, sometimes it’s a lightbulb moment – but any movement forward is a win for us and obviously a win for our clients.” How you can help DRESS FOR SUCCESS ADELAIDE • You can donate new or new-near clothes, shoes, handbags and jewellery to this great cause – simply drop off to their Modbury store, located at 985 North East Road. • Local business owner?
