You give them something incredible to look at of course. Following Tash Oakley’s Instagram feed is like being privy to a pristine selection of polaroid- sized postcards summoning you into the life of a jet-setting bikini blogger. With toned, tan skin and enviable blonde hair, Tash is every bit the Aussie girl next door, except her passport is packed full of global hotspots. A love for the lens and ability to rock a killer swimsuit has launched quite the career for Tash and her bestie, A Bikini A Day co-founder Devin Brugman. This super savvy girl lets us in on her journey, her travels and the secret to maintaining those gorgeous curves. A Bikini A Day. Literally a bikini every.single. day. How did it all start? A Bikini A Day (ABAD) was born from a passion that Devin and I both shared for photography. I had a production company and we both worked on it together. Living in Los Angeles, we spent our free time in bikinis and took to social media to use our love for photography to capture our day to day lives. People were drawn to our relatability. Two great friends loving life together, and the aspirational qualities we presented in our images. Before long, our following grew, and brands started asking us to wear their designs. From there it blossomed quite organically. words Laura Prior They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. A Sydney girl at heart, what do you miss most? I definitely miss my family the most. I don’t get to see them nearly enough, and they are the most important thing to me. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many loving and inspirational people, and I just wish I could spend more time with them. Insta-success can bring ‘insta-shamers’. How do you choose to handle it? I’m lucky to have so many positive female followers. It’s really inspiring to me to see how uplifting and forward thinking they are as women and how confident they can be. I read their comments and smile, and the effect that power has on me pretty much overshadows the bad. I barely notice them, and honestly believe that whilst everyone faces critics, it’s the positive responses that should be listened to. The ‘ideal’ body type – something women struggle with. You definitely embrace your curves and wear a bikini with confidence. Can you offer any advice? Women should embrace who they are and never compare themselves to anyone else. Beauty truly comes from the inside. I encounter this all over the world Wow, how has your life changed? It’s become far more about travel and far more all- encompassing. I’ve always been nomadic, but now I spend 10 months of the year living out of a suitcase. I’m also always working, and whilst I have always been dedicated to what I do, I live and breathe A.B .A.D... [but] I am so blessed to be able to do so. You can only pick one bikini style... go! The classic triangle bikini, definitely. It is fully adjustable, so you can always make it fit comfortably. And that is the most important thing in a good piece of swimwear. One travel destination that fills your daydreams... Definitely Italy, my experiences there have been like no other. The history, cuisine, culture, people and beauty, make for an enriched country full of pleasant surprises. Favourite Instagram to date... All the photos from my trip to Italy. I had the most amazing time driving from the north of the country to the south, exploring the cities, countryside and little towns. I loved every second of the trip, so my pictures are all filled with a happy nostalgia. The country is so beautiful that every shot would, of course, be beautiful..
