There comes a time when cat videos, makeup contouring tutorials and rants about somebody who p’ed you off at work become somewhat tedious. Ok...Ok... I know, it’s a great way to catch up with friends, network for work, or plan your next girls night out, but suddenly those snaps about what you ate for breakfast, or your ‘cat face’ snapchat filter seem just so... I don’t know... uneventful? I like my personal life, personal. I don’t like to post family photos, pics of my home, or share too much about what I was up to on the weekend. Call me old fashioned, but my life is mine, so hands off Mark Zuckerberg! I always cringe Sunday morning trawling through the Saturday night snaps of the ‘half tanked’ nights on the town of my FB friends. Can’t you have a night out anymore without being filmed? I have always imagined in a silicone valley, far far away, a group of Facebook executives sitting in the boardroom doing a preso about the most cringe worthy Facebook post of the month. Cue the cat jumping up and down at the sight of a cucumber video, stat! Marky mark is eating your life for breakfast and licking his lips with your online stats. I love to think before I share but don’t let the fear of missing out cause me to miss out! (in real life that is)... We all have those slightly obsessed online friends, the ones you see more on your feed than in real life. But, hey that’s ok as long as you have it under control. So, enough about social media, what’s next for us... This issue we have a few big changes, I am now signing off as the Publishing Editor and becoming the new Fashion Director! I am taking my own advice to ‘follow my gut’, live my dreams and do something I love every day. Deadlines and 12-hour days for me are now a thing of the past. It’s been an amazing seven years as the manager of this amazing publication, and I’ve had some of the best times of my life, but ladies I need a rest! Don’t worry I’ll still be here, but I’ll be wearing my new hat and the bigger team will be ramping up our website, social media and bringing you the best of SA every issue. Our little magazine has now become a big one and we need you! We would love your feedback. What do you love, what would you like to see more of, and how can we make your experience even better? So please drop us a line, a tweet, or an email and tell us what you think at firstname.lastname@example.org. So, as my sign off as Publishing Editor let me just say, I hope you have enjoyed reading as much as I have relished crafting the pages for you. I can’t wait to bring you lots of amazing fashion, home and lifestyle trends too. Love to stay in touch – if you would like to follow my behind the scenes adventures follow me @jodinash. Happy Shopping x Jodi I’ve got a hangover... A social media hangover.
